Harsh as jagged nails being dragged down a sheet of rusty steel, this is Oakland's Cheree with Churn Down. An amazing collage of sonic distress, which is a true conquest of noise with its pummeling percussion, distorted guitars, banshee wails, ear-splitting feedback and industrial overdrive. It all starts so sweetly with twittering birds, but then the band escape that gilded cage. This is not for the delicates out there and is absolutely brilliant for that reason.
Having formed in 2021, Cheree are a 4-piece industrial noise band (haha! no kidding!), consisting of members Vanessa Hernandez (Vocals/Lyrics), Zach Alexander (Guitar/Programming), Mikayla Rivas (Guitar) and Jordan Martich (Bass). This song "evokes the violence that wage labor. We are not the sum of our parts—we are solely the labor we contribute to society, objects fulfilling someone's greed."
The band have an EP called Factory out soon, based on this introduction, I'll certainly be waiting at the gates......with ear-protectors at the ready.
