Elektrokohle - Vollmond

Elektrokohle play cold punk, which I presume is like post-punk, but recorded in unheated brutalist buildings? Listening to Vollmond and watching their excellent noir video (see below), the band couldn't be based anywhere but in Berlin. If they lived in Bexhill-on-Sea, they would have to move. Sparse bilingual vocals, industrial clangs and a glorious, cherry-on-the-top, synth bass sound towards the end, all amount to a smashing track. One of those recordings I can happily (gloomily?) play on repeat.

Originally, Mona Manie and G. formed the band as a duo, in 2021, to escape the dreadful winter lockdown. Soon after they released a home-made demo of two songs. In the summer of 2022 they became a trio, when they were joined by Suzan Flag on bass. Since then they have recorded the first songs in the studio and have just released their debut EP.

The trio come from different parts of the world (Italy, Germany Brazil), but share a desire to create unique, dark and thrilling sounds. So far, so good - I look forward to hearing more from them.
