Wigan's Cigarettes and Scratchcards describes himself as an "anti-rapper" and considers himself something of a non-conformist within the music scene. 1984 is his latest release, inspired by George Orwell, it is a spiky rant against the current state of society paired with his own trials and tribulations. Primarily, the track is a spoken word diatribe combined with delightfully brooding synths and some simple but steady percussion. The overall feel is dystopian, post-punk but with a very contemporary verbal kick in the nether regions. Give it a go!
Cigarettes and Scratchcards will be releasing his second album “Post-Apocalypse” in the coming months.
