Sofi Gev - Softspoken Eyes

Sofi Gev’s Softspoken Eyes is a neat track, a gentle production with subtle touches and some super, multi-layered vocals. There's no doubt that Sofi's voice and wordplay are the stars here, but the rolling bass and other instrumentation add an unimposing envelope to balance the sound. The song is "about becoming infatuated with another person. You’re hyper aware of everything about them, from the way they dress to their micro expressions to how they move. You crave a deeper connection with them, but your heightened interest only repels them, which makes them all the more attractive."

Who is Sofi Gev? She is the solo project of American singer-songwriter and indie pop artist Hannah Lovelady. Her music features introspective, offbeat lyrics and delicate vocals over a dreamy blend of indie pop, electronica, and indie folk. Much of her early sense of melody was honed by singing the words of recipes from cookbooks accompanied by her father playing acoustic guitar. As you can hear, Softspoken Eyes has certainly come out well.
