I fancied something a little calm and gentle today, so here are AnnaOtta with a beguiling track called Come To The Light. AnnaOtta are European duo, Irene Novoa and Jenny Thiele, they create improvised music based around electronically manipulating recordings of their voices. The band say they are "in search of the uncommon beauty, treasuring the mistakes and using the technology to produce a more organic electronic sound".
The song is taken from their EP Such is Life and features pianist Lucia Fumero, the duo’s collaborator and friend for many years. The songs were recorded in one take and on three tracks, in an improvised session in Barcelona, January 2019.
For an experimental piece, Come To The Light is a pleasing listen with layers of texture and a melancholic simplicity. Give it a spin and if you like it, maybe buy a copy of the EP, which is available as a limited edition cassette.
