Hot Topic is the latest single from Canada's La Sécurité's album Stay Safe! The track has an infectious groove created around the interplay of bass and guitar, which is then deftly augmented by some pulsating electronica and pithy deadpan vocals ("You can fuck off with you banter, cut the crap, you’re not funny, I don't need a drink, I make my own money").
Apart from the lyrics, I enjoyed some of the quirky percussive sounds and the shards of angular guitar which come and go with a pleasing playfulness. This is one of those recordings which will hook you from the very beginning and the video is ace, too!
