American band, Sweeping Promises grab your ear from the very start with You Shatter. There's a short jaunty intro which slightly wrongfoots the listener, before the chugging bass and keyboard takes hold. What unfurls is a zippy, post-punk song which is full of charisma, mostly supplied by Lira Mondal's expressive vocal and the band's welcoming embrace of lo-fi, retro indie. A splendid track worthy of any mixtape. Look out for their forthcoming album, Good Living Is Coming For You, due for release at the end of June.
