Nine years is quite a long time in the music industry, trends come and go, sounds fall in and out of fashion, then fall in again, some thirty years later. I am one of those people who likes to be punctual, but when it comes to time and music, I do not give a billybob about it. I often discover tunes from the 1930s and they seem as fresh as a daisy to me. Anyway, that's an awfully long introduction for me to mention this track from Devereaux's 2014 album Pineapple Flex. The song is called Rendezvous and for me, on this early Monday morning, it had the right balance of catchiness and oddness to make it enjoyable. Bright guitar, mildly grinding electro and a hooky, understated vocal refrain, it is a song about "one of those nights". Not exactly timeless but certainly worth you giving it some of your time.
