Gender Reveal Atomic Bomb - Party Animals

A song now by the wonderfully named band Gender Reveal Atomic Bomb, a project headed by siblings Beau and Blaise Ramsey. They are American but are based in Belgium, adding Senna Schoofs (guitar), Anaïs Stassen Verpoest (drums) and Annabella Van Cappellen (additional vocals) to their line-up for live shows. That combination might explain their creative curveball approach to recordings, as heard on their latest release entitled Party Animals. In the vibrantly performed track, they manage to create an entertaining and amusing tone (not many donkey noises on tracks these days), whilst also managing to tackle some serious subject matters by mocking political systems and specifically venting their feelings about the US Capitol riots of 2020.

If I am completely honest, the recording could do with a bit of a production boost, but in some ways it reminded me of one of those cranky old demo tapes John Peel used to champion on his show, so that's good enough for me. They say "New song each month! Though we write about serious issues, we try not to take ourselves too seriously. The main thing we want is for you to enjoy our music!". Well, I enjoyed this massively and I can't wait for next month's offering - let's hope we're all invited.
