Back in the day, when pirates were on Top Of The Pops, rather than on the high seas troubling cargo ships in the Gulf of Guinea; I was one of two people in our school with a reasonable devotion to Adam & The Ants. I used to hold clandestine meetings with my compatriot in the canteen at lunchtime. Here, over our sweaty lunch boxes, we would discuss all things "ant-related". Soon after, Adam & the Ants exploded (in terms of popularity) and became an irresistible hit-machine, possibly one of the most dynamic and entertaining acts Britain has ever produced. Dave Barbarossa was a drummer for the Ants and it was a pleasure to see his name pop-up again on this new release by Silent Weapon. The song is called In a Spell and is taken from the act's forthcoming album Demonology. The recording itself is a wonderfully murky and dystopian onslaught of sound, but alongside the soaring synths and distraught vocals, the percussion pounds along with all the vim you would associate with an old ant. Great memories and more importantly, a great new track. Give it a listen.
