Pure coincidence, but today seems to be a double-up on the doll-themed artwork front. No tears to shed, I am more than happy to go with that theme as Elektrokohle's track, I Wanna Cry, is a wailing success. The Berlin band hit the ground running from the very off with goth guitars tearing through the compelling stream of percussion and tormented vocals. The lyrics of the song tell of "an inner conversation as in front of a mirror reflecting reality or a lost person silently asking for help and finding answers in just the gaze of the person in front". Dry those eyes, once again, Elektrokohle have crafted a super tune for the post-punk lovers.
The atmospheric video (directed by the Brazilian musician and videomaker, Murilo Sá) reflects the spirit of the recording excellently and is well worth a watch. The single is available on 7" vinyl, released via Dushtu Records (France) and Off Label Records (Germany).
