Department of Electrophilosophy - Monadlogic

Many years ago, I lowered a microphone into a large, rusty, old oil drum and recorded some abstract clunking noises onto my mono tape machine. The start of Monadlogic by California's Department of Electrophilosophy reminded me of that slightly distorted and cavernous sound. That happy memory stayed with me as I listened more to this new experimental recording by DoE, a track which opens up gradually from minimal beginnings, progressively incorporating bleeping electronica and percussion.

Department of Electrophilosophy explain that "'Monadlogic' is the study of how a single point, whether it is a mathematical unit or even the soul of a person, connects with all else in the universe. A unity within a vast multiplicity. It expresses wordlessly the philosophy of the Monadology of the German polymath Leibniz. Well, that is one way to look at it..."

An interesting opener for sure, it connected with me.
