Taken from Lines Of Silence's new The Long Way Home EP, Amaury Cambuzat's La Route des Choux Edit of the title track is a heart-warming recording with charm aplenty. Many will know Amaury Cambuzat for his work with Krautrock legends FaUSt and Ulan Bator. That expertise has been put to great use on this version. Like a casual train ride through a tree-lined landscape, the congenial instrumental moves at a steady pace, providing subtle points of interest along the way. Amongst other elements, I was gladdened to hear some ebowed guitar, a sound which is a personal favourite of mine.
Although sometimes appearing as a continuously morphing line-up, Lines of Silence’s 2024 incarnation is centred around a core duo of Todmorden’s David Little and Manchester’s Dave Clarkson. For live visuals they draft in the help of John Bonner and Adrian Ball.

With regards to the inspiration for the title track of the EP, David says “Sometimes it takes a long time to get home, literally or figuratively. The Long Way Home is a celebration of the twists and turns of that journey, the wrong turns and false starts as well as the joy in reaching the destination.”
Lines Of Silence and Amaury Cambuzat have managed to make you wish that the journey was just a little longer. A very enjoyable listen and even more kudos to the Analogue Trash label.
