For those who don't know Skint Knees (see my interview from 2022), they are a four-piece Riot Grrrl punk band from Sheffield (South Yorkshire). Their main aims are to get noticed, help cultivate a burgeoning scene and "to inspire and influence a new generation of loud mouths". With tracks such as 'Eat The Rich' and 'Demolition Queen', you can tell their music has a political vent, but thankfully everything is done with a certain degree of wit. Their latest release Cheerleader is another vibrant shout-out to empowerment, they say that it was "written to have everyone chanting the words with us, cheerleader is about the femme/non-binary experience where you may be judged for simply being yourself". It is another splendidly raucous song which you can shake your pom-poms to your heart's content, find it on their second EP, Bite Back. Give us an S, give us a K, give us an I.....
