Bohdan Stupak's composition air raid siren is over is a thought-provoking piece, although experimental and sparse, it somehow perfectly summarises the bleakness of the subject matter. Containing field recordings relating to the Ukrainian war, including fragments of conversations with the artist's son and colleagues discussing air raids, the soundscape presents the listener with an insight into the reality and human consequence of the situation. The skeletal piano augments that feeling with a sense of sadness and disquiet. The piece was created for the Stop All Wars compilation, which is available from the attenuation circuit netlabel. Let us all hope that one day those air raid sirens fall silent and remain silent.
