Next up is Japanese instrumental artist Akiyoshi Yasuda, who deals in that rather lovely territory where electronic sounds, acoustic textures and a bit of well-placed noise collide. As heard in 'As distance ends' there’s a distinctly Japanese sense of atmosphere to his work, with beauty and impermanence woven through the music rather than simply slapped on as decoration.

Yasuda treats sound almost as a diary, with his “memento” project collecting musical snapshots of memories and passing moments. He’s also worked across film, advertising and contemporary art, so there’s clearly more going on here than someone simply twiddling knobs or pressing buttons in a darkened room. The result is an intriguing, often beautifully atmospheric blend of the organic and electronic. I am pretty sure fans of Polygon Window (Richard D James) would appreciate this.
