Here's a lights off, shades on, sort of moment - there’s something wonderfully shadowy about Fernando’s Eyes’ rumbling 'Room On Fire', a moody piece of post-punk with gothic undertones that keeps things understated and uncompromisingly minimal. The programmed drums work neatly against live toms, giving the track a satisfyingly physical pulse, while the sparse lyrics leave little room for ambiguity - this is a song about leaving and not looking back.
Best known as the vocalist and co-founder of Stockholm’s Principe Valiente, Fernando Honorato handles production himself, with Hans Olsson co-producing and mixing. And then there’s Lina Langendorf’s sax, cutting through the gloom like a shimmering blade of light.
