Sometimes the best songs come from carefully considered songwriting sessions; other times, apparently, you just need to pick up the phone and call Turkey - the country, not the things that go 'gobble, gobble'.
Kathleen Blackwell’s 'Hello Turkey?' is a gloriously daft one-minute masterpiece (that might be stretching it a bit?), born from a studio conversation about whether Turkey actually has any mountains – and, if so, what on earth they’re called.
What started as a delirious joke was captured on mic and eventually turned into this wonderfully comical electro track, assembled simply to make Kathleen laugh. Thankfully, it worked – and now we get to share in the joke. A brief, bonkers detour from an artist who refuses to be confined by genre, proving that sometimes music doesn’t need to be profound; it just needs to make you smile.
By accident, I found that 'Hello Turkey?' works best if you leave it on repeat - try it!
