There’s an almost old-school glam-rock stomp to “She’s A Good Boy”, with Kyle T Hurley bringing some restrained but wailing guitar muscle to his indie-rock sound. Hurley, an American-born singer-songwriter now based in London, has deep roots in the Los Angeles club scene and draws from country, blues and rock.
The strong chorus provides a particularly effective hook, wielded rather like a musical bludgeon to hammer the point home. Well performed and produced, it finds Hurley sounding suitably slick and assured, while retaining the rough-edged character that makes his work tick. “She’s A Good Boy” is a punchy slice of rock ’n’ roll swagger.
