Portland’s PriorGhost turn up the heat without exactly setting the dancefloor ablaze on “WE’RE ON FIRE”. Released via Static Room Production, this sub-three-minute electro number is more Walkman wanderer than clubland stomper, with a clean melodic flow that occasionally recalls the pop-tastic tones of Eiffel 65. The reserved vocal delivery, warped voices and little glitches add just enough digital seasoning to keep things interesting. There’s a pleasingly understated confidence here: “WE’RE ON FIRE” may not be shouting it from the rooftops, but it certainly has a spark - and sometimes a little less fire makes for a hotter listen. Bonus point for the cool cover artwork, too. LINK: priorghost
